Develop Social Skills with Lego® Therapy!

The St Jude’s therapy team are excited to run a brand new workshop during the upcoming July School Holidays, which focuses on children and the development of various social skills.

Our programs will centre around Lego® Therapy, whereby children can interact with peers within their own age group and play with Lego®, to achieve specific tasks and activities in a therapy based setting.

Lego® Therapy was developed in 2004 by US psychologist Daniel Legoff. It was observed that children with autism encouraged a variety of social skills when playing with Lego® in a group setting. Success has been seen in children who undergo this style of therapy, leveraging their natural interests in a structured format, whereby each child’s role in the specific activity is clearly defined and facilitated by an experienced therapist.

Our fun and engaging program actively works to develop the following skills:

  • Turn Taking
  • Making Friends
  • Waiting
  • Sharing
  • Listening
  • Problem Solving
  • Communicating
  • So much more!

While Lego® Therapy was initially utilised with children with Autism, the benefits can be enjoyed by any child looking to develop and improve their social and communication skills.

Our workshops are targeted at children aged between 6 -12 and will take place at our Bellevue Community Centre between 7th July – 16th July, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Our workshops are separated by age group and held at the following times:

9:30am – 10:30am – for children aged between 6-9

11:00am – 12:00pm – for children aged between 10-12

If your child or any children you know may benefit from developing their social skills, we would love to see you these School Holidays. Children can attend as many or as few workshops as they’d like, with NDIS funding available for children with NDIS plans.

Please note, as we have limited capacity, it is essential you contact our friendly team to secure your booking.
