International Day of People with Disability – Meet Craig
Today, on International Day of People with Disability 2024, we proudly embrace this year’s theme of amplifying leadership. Meet Craig, our exceptional Accounts Receivable Officer – and a distinguished National Athlete in the field of archery!
Craig’s journey is one of resilience and determination. Following a motorcycle accident in 2014 that left him a T12 paraplegic, Craig discovered a renewed sense of purpose through sport. A ‘come and try’ day at his local archery club sparked a passion for the sport that would lead on to achieving at an international level.
In 2019, Craig earned his first National medal – a Bronze at the Para Nationals in Queensland – and has continued to succeed in the sport since then. Representing Australia as part of the Para National Team, he has competed on the global stage, including in Dubai and the World Championships in the Netherlands. Among his many achievements, Craig won a Silver medal at the 2022 Great Britain Para Archery Championships.
Although he narrowly missed selection for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, Craig has his sights focused on competing at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. He attributes much of his success to the unwavering support of his family, the Bowmen of Melville Archery Club, and the WA Institute of Sport.
Craig is not only an incredible athlete but also an inspiration. We are honoured to have him as part of the St Jude’s team and look forward to cheering him on as he continues to aim for greatness – on and off the archery field.
