Frequently Asked Questions

What types of Allied Health services does St Jude’s provide?

St Jude’s offers Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Positive Behaviour Support, Nursing, Therapy Assistants, Counselling and Psychology services all tailored to your needs and goals.

What locations can I access Allied Health services in?

Our Allied Health services can be provided in a range of different settings, including in your home for comfort and convenience, in schools, at residential aged care facilities, in the workplace, and in recreational or community settings if required.

How do I arrange to see an Allied Health professional?

The first step to scheduling services with one of our experienced Allied Health practitioners is to contact our friendly team, who will work with you to schedule services that meet your goals and requirements.

Can family members be involved in the process of receiving Allied Health services?

Yes, family members can be involved in sessions with our Allied Health professionals. It can often be beneficial to have a family member or support person present for sessions or assessments, so they are aware of recommended activities, exercises and equipment. In some cases, family members can be trained by our therapists to support ongoing care.

Are Allied Health services available to seniors receiving home care from another provider?

Yes, our Allied Health services can be accessed by all Home Care Package recipients, even if your package is managed by another provider. To set up services, an agreement will be completed between St Jude’s and your HCP provider for the Allied Health services that you will receive.

Can Allied Health services be adjusted as needs change?

Often when needs and goals change, the therapy services required to support this will also need to change. Whether it’s changing the type of therapy services that you receive, the frequency of sessions, or the location that services are delivered, our team are flexible and available to adjust services to suit you.

How does St Jude’s ensure that staff are qualified?

St Jude’s conducts thorough background checks on each of our Allied Health professionals prior to onboarding. This ensures that staff are qualified, experienced, and have the up-to-date credentials required for their field.

How are Allied Health costs structured at St Jude’s?

The costs associated with our Allied Health services differ across our service types. For NDIS clients, all services are priced in line with the current NDIS price guide and are based on your NDIS Plan. For Home Care clients, our price guides can be found here.

For those who are not eligible for government funding, services are available on a fee for service basis. Our team can provide you with a customised quote based on your needs.

St Jude’s can arrange services through a number of additional funding options – such as a Chronic Disease Management Plan, or Department of Communities funding. For more information, contact our friendly team.

Are Allied Health services available for children?

Yes, St Jude’s Allied Health services are available for all ages from infants and toddlers to seniors in aged care settings.

A number of our experienced therapists specialise in Paediatric therapy services for children and teenagers and are able to deliver services in a school or daycare setting.

Can St Jude’s provide Allied Health services anywhere in Western Australia?

Currently, our Allied Health services can be offered across the Perth Metropolitan area, Bunbury and the Southwest, and in Esperance. Services can be provided to any location through telehealth if appropriate.

Does St Jude’s have the capacity to provide Allied Health services immediately?

Although we endeavour to provide Allied Health services as quickly as possible, some of our therapy services have waitlists based on demand and location. Contact our friendly team for up-to-date information about our waitlists for our Allied Health services.

Can you help with assistive technology?

Our Allied Health therapists work closely with you to identify if you require assistive technology, or Augmentative and Alternative Communication Devices (AAC). Our therapists will thoroughly assess your needs and make recommendations for the best support and training.

How accessible are your Allied Health services?

Our Allied Health services utilise a person-centred approach, as we are continually aiming to provide the best experience for clients of all ages. We stay up to date with the changing needs of our clients and are always improving our services to better cater for their new requirements.

Can I choose the frequency and duration of Allied Health visits?

Absolutely, we offer flexible scheduling options to accommodate your specific needs. You can choose the frequency and duration of visits that best suit your requirements, whether that may be daily, weekly, or intermittently as needed.

What types of conditions do your therapists work with?

At St Jude’s, our compassionate and skilled Allied Health therapists support individuals with a variety of needs. These may include recovery after a fall or accident, developmental delays, sensory processing concerns, difficulties with fine and gross motor skills, speech and language delays, and behavioural issues, among others. We take a person-centred approach by providing thorough assessments and creating personalised therapy plans that are designed to meet each person’s unique requirements.

Are your therapy services personalised to each client?

Our experienced therapists begin by assessing each client’s strengths and identifying areas where they require assistance. We work closely with you to comprehend your goals and craft a personalised therapy plan including recommended supports.

Your plan is continually reviewed and adjusted to ensure that it remains up to date with your ongoing progress.

How are therapy sessions scheduled?

The frequency of therapy sessions is customised to your needs and goals, taking into consideration the funding available. We work closely with you and your child to determine an optimal session schedule and emphasise incorporating therapy strategies into everyday life.

Where funding is limited, we may encourage the involvement of one of our therapy assistants to provide input under the guidance of a therapist, which is charged at a lower hourly rate, allowing for more frequent therapy sessions.

Is there a minimum NDIS funding requirement to access your services?

At St Jude’s, we do not require a minimum NDIS funding amount for our Allied Health services, ensuring they are accessible to individuals with varying funding levels.

Are your Allied Health services accessible for non-English speakers?

Yes, our Allied Health services are accessible for non-English speakers.

Alongside having a team of multilingual therapy professionals, St Jude’s is registered with the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) which allows us to ensure effective communication and tailored assistance to non-English speakers.

For more information about the specific languages available across our therapy services and locations, contact our friendly team.
