Notice to all Employees re: COVID-19 (Coronavirus) – 27 March 2020

There have been a number of changes since our last communication including:

  • The closure of our state borders, all people returning to WA are now required to self-isolate for 14 days even if they have only been interstate.
  • We have also seen the closure of cafe’s, restaurants and many retail stores.
  • Numbers of people attending funerals and weddings have been strictly limited.
  • Schools are recommending that parents keep children home if possible however are still supervising students that do attend.
  • Travel restrictions within the state of WA will come in to place next week.

The message however has been clear that for those people who still have a job you should continue to go to work. Supporting our clients is essential and all staff should continue to attend work as per normal however, you must advise your supervisor immediately if you are:

  • unwell
  • have been advised that you have had close contact with someone who has COVID-19
  • have had close contact with someone who is currently being tested for COVID-19
  • recently returned from overseas or interstate

Many of our staff are asking why they cannot wear facemasks, gloves etc whilst at work?

  • At this time, you only need to wear appropriate PPE when you are providing care to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or who is being tested for COVID-19.
  • We do have a supply of PPE for these occasions however, they are much sought after items and if we commence using them when they are not recommended we will not have stock of them if required in the future.
  • The wearing of facemasks by staff when not required can be confronting for our customers and we do not recommend that you purchase or wear these unless directed by your Supervisor.

What should you do:

  • maintain recommended infection control procedures
  • cancel any travel plans even within WA
  • notify us if you become unwell or are advised that you have had close contact with someone who has COVID-19
  • notify us if someone you have close contact with is being tested for COVID-19

We understand that this is a challenging time for everyone, we will continue to monitor this situation closely and provide further updates regularly. If you have any questions please talk to your supervisor.
